Memorial Day Weekend 2017

After a long, wet winter, we’ve finally arrived at the 2017 Summer Season! We’ve been busy working to improve this incredible property and we’re beyond excited to welcome you back for a family-fun filled summer at Pine Grove.

Wet, wet, wet.  So much rain this past winter/spring that the seasonal creeks are still flowing, making it impossible to drain and clean the pools until the water table drops another foot or more.   We will be doing everything possible to get the pools ready to open Memorial Day weekend but have to improvise in the process.

Fortunately, given all the rain, we managed to make it through this past winter with minimal damage.  Our roadways suffered and are getting some grading, gravel and general TLC. Otherwise, the grove is green and lush.  This past fall before the rains began, 9 more cabins got caulked and painted.

We’re currently working on a variety of new projects and passions, including working to improve and develop new ecological harmony with nature by using the latest and most conscious methods of permaculture and organic food production. There’s a couple of creek-side spots that have been greatly enhanced by the efforts of the permaculture crew (Brina, Steven and Andrew). Non-native invasive Himalayan Blackberries have been dug up and replaced with a variety of native plants that offer excellent root structure for erosion control and a heartiness to defend against the blackberries coming back.

We’re also in the beginning stages of converting a portion of the organic garden into a permaculture food forest. Over time this becomes a more beautiful, dramatically more abundant and sustainable system than conventional agriculture. Stay tuned on our website and social media to watch the progress. Miguel Elliot of Living Earth Structures is building one of his artful Cobzebos in the campground.  This outdoor oven and seating area should prove to be a beautiful gathering spot for conversation and wood fired pizza and other yummy treats.

We’ve made a few changes to some of our rates.  Our summer cabin rentals are less expensive by $20-$40 per night, holidays excluded.   General Admission season passes for the pools are now $200, a $25 increase, with prices for a child season pass unchanged.

We want to say a special thank you to all of the people who’ve helped get us ready for this summer season. Much gratitude to Ben, Jim, Rob, Nick, Jai, Robb, Gerard and crew for all of your hard work. Lisa will be returning this summer to cook for all of our pool guests.  Our dear friend and former grill chef (2014), Almendra, will be making select guest appearances. Another new addition to our team, Melissa McAndrew, brings a tremendous body of experience and expertise to our marketing efforts and digital media presence.

All of us here that strive to take care of this special land extend a warm welcome to all of our 2017 summer season guests.  We are very grateful for your continued patronage and your love for this oasis that is Pine Grove.
